The NAEGA National Conference is a key event for adult guidance practitioners.
The 2009 event offers an intensive programme centring on changes affecting all adult guidance practitioners; changes in our economic environment, changes our clients are experiencing and changes to the adult guidance infrastructure.

"Especially liked the posters – makes for a very open conference"

The NAEGA National Conference

In a world where change could be described as a constant in almost every aspect of our lives, adult guidance has seen major changes in its infrastructure over the last year. We find ourselves in a world of economic and environmental uncertainty. Such change affects the lives of our clients by adding pressure, bringing additional anxiety and insecurities which we, in turn, need to address in our professional lives.

The NAEGA National Conference aims to tackle the impact of change and to address important current issues in a programme that is profoundly relevant, informative and thought provoking with both strategic keynote presentations and up to 20 highly focused subject specific sessions.

The potential learning experience for anyone in adult guidance today is intense. Each individual delegate can select a programme, which is personalised to their own personal and professional development. It offers opportunities to access the latest research, analyse new thinking, explore initiatives and understand changes that are affecting them.

The conference programme has been developed following close consultation with leading policy strategists as well as grass roots practitioners and focuses on finding ways to deliver excellent services for clients as well as developing personal and professional effectiveness in these changing times. The conference is for you if you are:

  • A new entrant
  • An experienced practitioner
  • A manager
  • A policy strategist
  • A researcher
  • Working on your own
  • Working in a small team
  • Working for a large service provider
  • Self employed career practitioner

Propose a poster

We invite you to propose a poster

There will be an opportunity at the conference to disseminate information and ideas about selected initiatives and continuing professional development as posters. Posters should:

  • Give a flavour of their author’s work
  • Outline main points clearly and concisely in a readily accessible format
  • Clearly state author and subject
  • Avoid too dense text
  • Maximum size acceptable is A1 (flip chart size).

Posters should give delegates an insight into work undertaken and its impact on service delivery or policy development. Posters will be hung throughout the Conference in the main exhibition area and coffee hub. The programme will include a dedicated Poster/Exhibitor hour in addition to the normal coffee breaks when poster authors will be able to introduce their posters. It would be advisable to augment posters with a handout although there will be no facility to display these other than as a part of the poster. There will also be a prize awarded for the best poster on display.

If you would like to propose a poster please send a short summary or outline of your poster to naega@emmm.co.uk (Clearly marked POSTER PROPOSAL) by 6th July 2009 and we will confirm arrangements by email. Any queries regarding posters please contact the conference office on the email address above.
