What is it?
The 2007 TMI Annual Convention 'Global Changes – Local Challenges' is the must attend, showcase event for destination managers and tourism professionals across the UK.
Global Changes – Local Challenges focuses on the impact of recent significant changes – environment, new technologies and emerging markets. The convention explores constructive, profitable and realistic ways for destination managers to address these changes. Delegates learn from 'those in the know', see 'how others do it' and gain confidence to develop the right solutions for their own destination.
Discussion of the latest thinking, leading edge development and practical application is combined with networking and inspirational learning. The popular three strand formula allows delegates from the same organisation to develop their different skills and experiences to the benefit of individual and destination alike.
Why attend?
The convention programme is packed full of opportunities to:
• Understand the impact of global changes on local destinations
• Access the latest tourism research
• Analyse new thinking
• Discover creative solutions
• Explore options for new initiatives and best value service delivery partnerships
• Identify and develop best practice skills and techniques
• Increase personal and professional effectiveness
• Network with like-minded professionals
• Have your say in discussions on important current issues
Who should attend?
Everyone who is involved in destination management, strategic planning, product or service development and tourism marketing at local, sub-regional, regional and national levels. This programme is intensive, demanding and productive, whether you’re at a senior level, developing your career or new to the industry.
Three strands run throughout:
• Strategy and partnerships
• Developing the visitor experience
• Marketing and commercial services
By structuring the programme this way, specialists from within a tourism department or organisation can personalize their attendance to provide the most productive combination of presentations, study tours and workshops, gaining maximum benefit for both themselves and their team.
